Bishop Robert (Bob) L. Jackson is the Senior Pastor of Acts Full Gospel Church of God in Christ, 1034 66th Avenue, Oakland, CA. Bishop Jackson is a proud native of the Bay Area. Bishop Jackson was born in Berkeley, California in 1945, and was a student in the Oakland Public Schools, graduating from Castlemont High School in 1963. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1968.
Bishop Jackson received an Associate of Arts Degree from Merritt College in 1970; a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from California State University, Hayward in 1973; and a Master’s Degree in Theology from the International Seminary in Plymouth, Florida. In May 1989, Bishop Jackson received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Sacramento Theological Seminary and Bible Institute, Sacramento, CA. He also received a second Honorary Doctorate Degree from Saint Thomas Christian Divinity in 2005. He is the author of “Church Building Through Evangelism” and “Cast the Devil Out.”
Bishop Jackson answered the call by God to pastor in 1984. Led by the Holy Spirit, he founded Acts Full Gospel Church of God in Christ in Oakland, CA with only 13 members. The church has grown to over 6,000 members and over 30 active ministries. The growth of the church is the result of solid Bible teaching and the perpetual vision to “Taking the City for the Lord Jesus Christ” through personal evangelism.
Bishop Jackson believes in investing in the local community. He has successfully founded many entities including Acts Christian Academy, the Men of Valor Academy, Acts Anointed Acres, the Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce (OAACC), House of Ruth, Soul’s Restaurant and Charlene’s (family boutique). He is the founder and President Emeritus of the Pastors of Oakland Ecclesiastical Group. Bishop Jackson also started Acts Community Development, Inc. to develop 59 affordable housing units, Acts Cyrene Apartments. He is currently in the process of building another 58 affordable apartment units to accommodate residents in Oakland. Bishop Jackson is also the Overseer of the Chaplaincy Program in the prison system. He has a strong passion for our youth and is the Chairman of the Oakland Chapter OK Program for boys.
In April 2004, Bishop Jackson was consecrated as Auxiliary Bishop in the Church of God in Christ and is currently the National Director of the Soul Winning Department. Bishop Jackson has a passion for Soul Winning. He has taken the evangelism method “Seven Steps to the Kingdom” to many pastors across the nation (including Hawaii, the Caribbean, South America, and Mexico). And it starts with a simple question, “Can I have a minute of your time?” Bishop Jackson has planted numerous churches throughout Northern California and in the country of Liberia.
In April 2016, Bishop Jackson was confirmed as the Jurisdictional Prelate for the newly ratified California West Coast Jurisdiction.
While officially referred to as Bishop Jackson, many know him as “Bishop Bob.” Bishop Jackson is down to earth and relatable to all he encounters and delivers God’s message in a way that easily connects to those who hear it.
Bishop Jackson is happily married to Lady Barbara Ann Jackson. Together, they have seven children, eighteen loving grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
