OUR VISION

We believe in a world where communities thrive, where individuals feel safe and respected, and where justice and equality are not just words but a reality. The "Come Home" campaign is our bold and compassionate effort to bridge the gap between communities and law enforcement, fostering a relationship of trust, understanding, and respect.

A MESSASGE FROM OUR

PRESIDENT

As the President of the NAACP, I aim to continue the legacy passed down to me by my parents, who instilled in me the importance of combining faith and justice. Growing up in the Jim Crow South, I experienced the unfair treatment of people of color and how faith can inspire communities to bring about positive and long-lasting change.

My commitment lies in upholding the values of equality, justice, and love instilled in me from my upbringing. Through this organization, I hope to foster connections between communities and advocate for the rights of historically marginalized and oppressed individuals.

I strongly believe in the power of collective action and plan to use our organization’s platform to promote social equity and advance the civil rights movement. We will focus on proactive prenatal care for African American women, voting rights, fair housing, comprehensive education reform, and literacy. Additionally, we will support those facing discrimination, including health and job resources and community outreach programs.

I feel that it’s so important for our children to get a good education in k-12 grade along with the colleges of their choice, especially with the HBCU’s Colleges that our fort parents built from their hands—also a vocation, education, and community college. My passion lies in creating a community in Oakland where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation. By coming together, we can build a better future for all based on compassion, fairness, social justice, and faith.

#COMEHOME

THE NEED FOR CHANGE

Over the years, our nation has witnessed deep-rooted tensions and mistrust between some communities and law enforcement agencies. Incidents of injustice and systemic biases have led to fractured relationships and a sense of disconnection. We recognize that healing and empowerment can only begin when we come together, listen to each other, and work collaboratively for a brighter future.

OUR MISSION

To empower communities and create an environment of safety, harmony, and opportunity for all. We aim to:

#1

Foster Communication and Understanding: Through open dialogues, community forums, and shared experiences, we seek to bridge the communication gap and encourage empathy and mutual respect.

#2

Promote Accountability and Transparency: We advocate for transparency in law enforcement practices and demand accountability for any actions that undermine justice or violate human rights.

#3

Empower Grassroots Leaders: We believe in the strength of community leaders and seek to amplify their voices, ensuring that their concerns are heard and addressed by policymakers.

#4

Encourage Community Engagement: We strive to create a space where community members actively participate in shaping policies that directly affect their lives.
